Our Vision: For the Glory of God
These are some of the ways we seek to faithfully Glorify God:
- We are Gospel-Focused - We preach Christ and Him crucified and risen (1 Cor 2:2; 1 Cor 15:20-23) and are servants of the Gospel as passed down to us in the Holy Scriptures (Ephesians 3:7). This Gospel is the salvation we have in Christ whereby sinners are justified by the death of the Lord Jesus Christ in their place (Romans 1:16; 3:21-26).
- We are Bible-Based - We practice expository preaching so we accurately get our understanding of the triune God from the Holy Scriptures (Psalm 19:7-11; 2 Tim 3:15-17; 1 Cor 2:13); and since the Scriptures are about Jesus (Luke 24:44), we are Christ-centred and preach the gospel (1 Cor 1:23).
- We believe in God-Prescribed Public Worship - On the Lord’s Day (Sunday), we aim to worship God as He has prescribed in His Word. Each Lord’s Day we gather together for the reading of Scripture (1 Tim 4:13), the preaching of the Word (1 Cor 2), singing praise to God (Eph 5:19), speaking in prayer to God (Acts 4:24), and our weekly collection (1 Cor 16:2). We regularly celebrate the Lord's Supper (1 Cor 11) and are occasionally blessed to administer Baptism (Acts 2:41).
While maintaining reverence for the LORD (Heb 12:28-29), we strive to conduct Public Worship in an orderly manner (1 Cor 14:26-33) which is understandable for people living in the culture(s) we are ministering to (1 Cor 14:19).
- We Deliberately Disciple - Our several Bible studies for adults and youth include prayer and general fellowship but are purposely conducted to teach and apply the Bible (Matt 28:20; Col 1:28).
- We are Mission Minded - Individually we are always prepared to give a reason for the hope that we have (1 Peter 3:15). We are careful to be good witnesses of the Gospel in our lives and behaviour, and to speak graciously to all people, giving Biblical answers to those who may ask us any questions (Col 4:5-6). We particularly support locally sent missionaries (Matt 28:20; Mark 16:15) who share our theological convictions and those from Australian Presbyterian World Missions.
- We are Prayerfully Dependent - Without our Father in Heaven (Matthew 6:9-13), Jesus Christ the Son (John 15) and the power of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 2:10-16), we can do nothing that faithfully glorifies God (Ephesians 1:15-23). With this knowledge, we confess and repent of our sins (Matthew 6:12) and continue steadfastly in prayer (Col 4:2).
- We Sacrificially Serve - As Jesus Christ told us to take up our cross daily and follow Him (Luke 9:23), we see the importance of serving in a self-sacrificial way in the church (1 Cor 12), and also as we love other people (Matt 5:43-45; 22:39) and witness in wider society for His glory (Matt 5:16; 1 Peter 2:12).
- We are Confessionally Reformed - We believe in the importance of a heritage of Christian teaching which transcends our own contemporary age (Jer 6:16). The historic creeds (The Apostles’ Creed, Nicene Creed, Chalcedonian Definition) and Reformed confessions inform our understanding of the Holy Scriptures. We hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith as a summary of important teachings of the Bible. It is the Holy Bible alone (as the Confession itself says), given by inspiration of God, being the Holy Spirit speaking in the Scripture, which is the rule of faith and life.
